MBM Consulting provided owner representative services to Broad River Electric Cooperative for the design and construction of their new Headquarters location in Cowpens, South Carolina.

Broad River Electric Cooperative moved into their former headquarters location in 1974. The cooperative had sustained the facility to meet their needs as best they could over the last 48 years. When faced with challenges at the current facility, the cooperative decided it was time to build a new headquarters that could more appropriately meet their needs, improve function and support future growth.

This project provided a new corporate headquarters office, new truck shed, new warehouse and fueling station. The office is a two-story, 30,550 square foot office with new secured lobby with ballistic protection, updated dispatch and training/war room for outage response, an event space for 165 people, and an executive suite which includes the Boardroom.

The 22,700 square foot warehouse was built to accommodate growth. The loading dock has locking cages for line crews and commercial carriers to secure warehouse materials. A meter testing lab, break room and restroom are provided for staff.

The 20,000 square foot truck shed provides six covered, drive-thru bays and a truck repair shop. Mens and Women’s locker rooms are provided with secured locker storage, showers, and private changing areas.

The site plan provides a fueling station for unleaded and diesel fuel, laydown space, pole yard, a damaged transformer shed, transformer storage pad, and dumpsters. The site plan design addresses traffic flow between commercial and private vehicles and secured employee parking.
