Why Our Process Works:

  • Client had previous cost experience for work inside the plant; our process was able to competitively bid the job for half the cost per square foot.

  • GC wanted a $1.6 million change order for soil nail wall adjustment, which was revisited through our expertise to $535,000 change order and use of styrofoam to address sheer loads.

  • Returned $600,000 to client at end of project in cost savings.

  • The original GC for the Training Center was fired for failing to meet GMP at the end of the design process and job was re-bid and re-contracted to follow GMP budget.

Mike served as owner representative (while employed with another firm) to design a 91,520 square foot Station Support Complex to provide various team rooms, offices, and support amenities such as an auditorium, conference rooms, briefing rooms and break rooms. The extreme slope of the site provided a major design challenge leading to extensive excavation. The building was designed to accommodate 200 to 800 employees and open 24-hours a day with complete flexibility. The work areas include permanent work stations, temporary work stations and lockers.

The Operator Training Center renovation consisted of creating better functionality among classrooms and training environments. A large classroom that can be separate into two smaller classrooms was added, with modern finishes and updated Audio/Visual equipment. The expansion of the training center consisted of a two-story 18,000 square foot building connected to the renovation by a 30 foot sky bridge. The new facility provides private offices, classrooms that include modern audio/visual equipment, video conferencing capabilities, training rooms, and cubicles. A new entrance drive and adequate parking were incorporated into the project.
